Recently, Jinxing English Club of Kunshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine along with the health service department of DKU held a bilingual cultural promotion of TCM. The Club President, Liu Yuxi from the Endocrinology Department, Lu Jinchao the Acupuncture and Rehabilitation Department, Jiang Yuanyue the Pathology Department, Ren Ling and Hong Wenjuan the Pharmacy Department participated, providing TCM consultation and treatment(therapy), as well as the science popularization lectures, which remarked a unique experience for student and faculty of DKU.
The event enjoyed a great popularity. The course of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory of syndrome differentiation and treatment was easy to understand, while the experience of suitable techniques in traditional Chinese medicine was deeply loved. TCM related products such as tea drinks and sachets attracted both the students and faculty. Supported by Ms. Gao(Director of Health services department, DKU) and Dr. Zuo, the activities were carried out in an orderly manner. The medical young backbone of Jinxing English Club of Kunshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine received unanimous praise as TCM culture was successfully promoted by their good language skill and rich cultural literacy.
Since 1998, Ms. Mao Chunyi, who was then the dean, visited Denmark. Since then, several hospital leaders, as well as a large number of department heads, nurses, and department backbones, had visited countries such as the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, regions as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan to inspect and learn about the advanced medical technology and management concepts. During this period, we welcomed academic groups like Taiwan Soong Ching Ling Foundation of China, Aichi Prefecture from Japan, Sino-French Medical Exchange association, the list can go on. In 2008 and 2009, the hospital was granted the "International Cooperation Base of Traditional Chinese Medicine “by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the “International Education and Training Base of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine”. The hospital's influence among international peers gradually strengthened.
Kunshan Hospital of Chinese Medicine established the "Jinxing English Club" in July 2022, jointly leaded by the Education Department and the Communist Youth League of the hospital, aiming to offer a platform for communication, enhance multicultural interaction, create a learning atmosphere, so as to provide the driving force for the construction of the clinical medical "bilingual teacher" team, as well as the broad development space for the hospital's backbone.
The Jinxing English Club has a management structure consisting of 1 president, 1 vice president, 2 secretaries and organizational committee members, 1 publicity committee member, and 1 finance committee member. Up to now, there are a total of 50 members of the club, including 31 medical personnel from TOEFL training courses throughout three phases and some outstanding young people from the Youth League Committee.
Since its establishment, the club has already organized more than 10 events, with "allies" involving universities such as Duke Kunshan University and College of International studies of NUDT, groups from regions like Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan from China, nations from Southeast Asia, Europe and America. The events are various like game interactions and exchanges, real experiences of traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment services and simulated emergency training... While enhancing friendship, they also contribute to the popularity of traditional Chinese medicine culture.
